Project:

CANDY - Computer- aided Network Design Utility framework

Overview:

The network design is a complex process, among other things * Choice of relevant transfer technologies; * Design of the building cabling system and constellation of WLAN-AP etc.; * Choice of active components as well as of switching/routing techniques; * Observance of overall cost and time constraints; * Load and performance simulation; * Documentation. At present the computer network design takes place widely intuitively under use of the network designers' know-how and of some tools, which are not optimized for computer network design. The CANDY-project is aimed to unloading the network designers from routine works. The project will be partitioned into the multiple tasks: 1. Analysis of computer network draft - workflow conception; 2. Development of a XML-based description language - NDML (Network Description Markup Language); 3. Design methodics for Ethernet-LAN; 4. Design methodics for WLAN; 5. Development of a network design framework - CANDY (Computer Aided Network Design Utility framework).
