An Integration and Representation Model for Distributed and Heterogeneous Contextual Information

  • Kontext
  • Context Maps

This work facilitates the use of contextual information, i.e. information from the environment of applications, by reducing the complexity of the procurement process of distributed and heterogenous contextual information. As a matter of principle, comprehensive contextual information arises in many different places and data sources. Therefore, a consumer of contextual information needs to be aware of and able to access several different data sources and must know how to combine the contextual information taken from different and isolated data sources into a meaningful representation of the context.

Our solution is an integration and representation model for contextual information based on technologies from the semantic web. It allows to compose comprehensive and semantically meaningful context models using information taken from external distributed and heterogeneous data sources.
