COMQUAD - COMponents with QUantitative properties and ADaptivity

The Research Group No. 428 of the DFG has begun its work at TU Dresden on October 1st, 2001 to seek solutions to these two open problems. The name "COMQUAD" stands for "COMponents with QUantitative properties and ADaptivity". The project aims at a system architecture and a matching design methodology, that support the composition of adaptive software from components with consideration of guaranteed non-functional properties. Examples of non-functional, quantitative properties are throughput and response time, or at higher levels of abstraction, frame rate, frame quality, transactions per second, number of active clients for a server, etc. It is the goal of the project to encompass a large variety of non-functional properties of components. In particular, security properties are to be supported next to the mentioned, purely quantitative properties.
