Practical Course Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing

    Common Information:

    The goal of the practical exercise is to deepen the knowledge in the field of Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing. Attendees should apply their knowledge to practical issues raised by actual research projects of the chair of computer networks. The topics are newly created each term. In addition to basic knowledge about recent technologies like smartphones, Android, or GPS, experiences in team work and carrying out research work should be collected/gathered.

    The course is organized as a software project. Attendees should work in a team of 3-6 students to solve one of the proposed project tasks. The teams should work self-organized under supervision of one or more research staff members of the chair of computer networks. The projects are organized in three sprints.

    Prerequisite to attend the class is a Vordiplom or Bachelor degree successfully accomplished. Knowledge in the areas of Distributed Systems, Mobile Computing, Application Development for Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing or Design of distributed systems based on service-oriented architectures is helpful but not required. The attendees should be interested in getting experiences in carrying out research work.

    Expected result of the practical exercise is to successfully solve one of the tasks in a team. The solution should comprise a prototype and a documentation.
