Important Information Concerning Student Registration Card
From summer semester 2011 on students are required to show their matriculation certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) when registering for examinations, defenses etc.. The new student registration card does not contain all information needed anymore.

Please note that module examinations are extra examinations to be taken. For getting more information, please read the following instructions carefully.

Course examinations
  1. Contact the examiner and agree an appointment for the examination.
  2. Cancellation of your registration to the examination should be done 14 days (for oral exams) or 3 days (for written exams) BEFORE the examination date.
  3. Collect the certificate from the examiner in charge after the examination, keep it and give a copy to the SCIS.

ATTENTION: Only taking the course examinations is not enough to aquire credits. Credits are given only on completed modules, which requires additional module examinations (see below).

Basic Module examinations

Written examinations:

Registration period will be announced on time on the web page as well as in an e-mail.
  1. Register PERSONALLY by presenting your TUD matriculation certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) to the SCIS during the registration period.
  2. Cancellation of your registration to the exam is possible three days BEFORE the examination date at the very latest. Therefore, contact the SCIS giving your matriculation number (Matrikelnummer) and the title of the missed examination.
  3. In case of illness, you must present a sickness certificate issued on the day of examination or before, a note showing your matriculation number and the title of the missed examination to the SCIS within three weeks after the examination.
  4. Results can be asked from the SCIS during the respective office hours personally.

Oral examinations:

  1. Register PERSONALLY by presenting your TUD matriculation certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) to the SCIS during the registration period.
  2. Cancellation of your registration to the exam is possible 14 days BEFORE the examination date at the very latest. Therefore, contact the SCIS giving your matriculation number (Matrikelnummer) and the title of the missed examination.
  3. In case of illness, you must present a sickness certificate issued on the day of examination or before, a note showing your matriculation number and the title of the missed examination to the SCIS within three weeks after the examination.

Advanced Module examinations
  1. Contact the person in charge of the module and agree an appointment for the examination. Make sure there is a second examiner.
  2. Register PERSONALLY by presenting your TUD matriculation certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) to the SCIS. We advise to do this at least two weeks in advance.
  3. Complete a registration form for each advanced module examination available from the SCIS. In case the courses have already been completed, you need to present the respective certificates to the SCIS.
  4. The SCIS will issue a protocol form (Protokoll über die mündliche Modulprüfung) and you must present it along with the completed registration form to the examiner. If you do not have these documents or you don't show up in person for the examination, you cannot be examined, even if you agreed the examination date correctly.

Project

After completion of your project work ask your supervisor for a certificate which contains all relevant information like subject, SWS/credits, mark, matriculation no., student′s name, date and signature of your supervisor. Keep the original certificate and give a copy to the SCIS.

 

MCL Master Thesis Procedure

Before starting to write the thesis

  1. Select a supervisor.
  2. Ask your supervisor to fill in the form Master's Thesis Application also available from the SCIS.
  3. Check, if you have all official proofs (certificates) for courses, modules and projects you have done. Consider that the defense can only be applied for, if you have completed all requested modules and obtained 90 credits. Contact the professor/university in charge, in case something is missing.

After completion of the thesis

  1. Fix a date for the defense with your supervisor.
  2. Fill in the form Application for Defense of the Master Thesis also available from the SCIS.
  3. Register PERSONALLY by presenting your TUD matriculation certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) to the SCIS 14 days BEFORE the defense at the latest and inform the SCIS on the date of your defense.
  4. Take two copies of your thesis to the SCIS before the date of defense, but no later than the due date for the hand in, which is given in the form Master's Thesis Application.
  5. Send an e-mail to your supervisor (and possibly his/her secretary) and ask for announcement of your defense through the automatical system. The e-mail should inform on the date, time, venue, title and abstract of your thesis.
  6. Have yourself exmatriculated with the International Office (AAA) after successfull completion of your studies.

Transcript Degrees

The SCIS issues transcript degrees at the end of each semester and on request.

Important:
The transcript degree contains all completed modules.

For students who start/ed in October 2010 or later, only:
The number of ECTS-credits cannot be stated for single courses but for completed modules, only.
The ECTS-grade will be calculated for the final mark after completion of your studies, only.
