Important Information Concerning Student Registration Card
From summer semester 2011 on students are required to show their matriculation certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) when registering for examinations, defenses etc. The new student registration card does not contain all information needed anymore.

Written examinations:

Registration period will be announced on time
  1. Register PERSONALLY by presenting your matriculation certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) to the SCIS.
  2. Cancellation of your registration to the exam is possible three days BEFORE the examination date at the very latest. Therefore, contact the SCIS giving your matriculation number (Matrikelnummer) and the title of the missed examination.
  3. In case of illness, you must present a sickness certificate, a note showing your matriculation number and the title of the missed examination within three weeks after the examination to the SCIS.
  4. Results can be personally asked from the SCIS during the respective office hours.
  5. Please bring your degree transcript booklet to SCIS. Your results will be recorded there.

Oral examinations:

  1. Register PERSONALLY by presenting your matriculation certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) to the SCIS.
  2. For module examinations, you must complete a registration form available from the SCIS. Therefore, you will be asked to present your transcript degree booklet.
  3. The SCIS will issue a transcript form (Protokoll).
  4. Contact the examiner in charge and arrange an appointment for the examination.
  5. Present the complete registration documents from the SCIS and your transcript degree booklet to the examiner.
  6. In case you want to cancel the examination, you must do this 14 days BEFORE the examination date at the very latest. Therefore, contact the SCIS AND the examiner in charge giving your matriculation number (Matrikelnummer) and the title of the examination.
  7. Please bring your transcript degree booklet to the examination. Your results will be recorded by the examiner.
  8. In case of a module examination, collect the registration form from the examiner and keep it.

 

Intership

After completion of your internship ask your supervisor to record all relevant information as subject, credits, mark, name and signature of your supervisor and the date into your degree transcript booklet.

 

Master Thesis Procedure

Before starting to write the thesis

  1. As soon as you have acquired at least 75 ECTS credits in total, you can start with writing your Master′s Thesis. Therefore, select a supervisor.
  2. Your supervisor issues your task. Therefore, the form ”Master′s Thesis Application” shall be used. It is available from the SCIS website.
  3. Make sure that your supervisor sends a signed copy of your task to the SCIS for registration before the starting date.
  4. Check if you have all entries in your transcript degree booklet for modules, courses and internships you have done. Consider that the defense can only be applied for if you have completed all requested modules and obtained 90 ECTS credits. Contact the professor in charge if something is missing.

After completion of the thesis

  1. Fix a date for the defense with your supervisor. The defense can take place two weeks AFTER SUBMISSION of the thesis AT THE EARLIEST; however it should have taken place six weeks after submission.
  2. Fill in the form ”Application for the Defense of the Master′s Thesis” available from the SCIS website. Take the form to the SCIS 14 days BEFORE the date of your defense, but on the day of the submission of your thesis AT THE LASTEST. Please bring your matriculation certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) and your transcript degree booklet.
  3. Take two copies of your thesis to the SCIS by the last day of the time allocated for its writing. Please bring your matriculation certificate (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung).
  4. Ask your supervisor for announcement of your defense through the automatical systems (displays in the foyer). The announcement should inform on the date, time, venue, title and include an abstract of your thesis.
  5. Have yourself exmaticulated with the International Office (AAA) after successful completion of your studies.
  6. Please note that issuing your Master′s Certificates can take some time. There will be a provisional certificate of your final degree available from the SCIS some days after your defense.

 

Transcript Degrees

The SCIS issues transcript degrees at the end of each semester and on request.

Important:
The transcript degree contains all completed modules.

For students who start/ed in October 2010 or later, only:
The number of ECTS-credits cannot be stated for single courses but for completed modules, only.
