Dr. Florian Kerschbaum

Dr. Florian Kerschbaum is the temporary professor for the chair of privacy and data security at the institute system architecture at technical university Dresden (winter semester 2011/2012).

Dr. Florian Kerschbaum worked for SAP Research in Karlsruhe, Siemens, the San Francisco-based startup Arxan, Intel and Digital Equipment in the job functions of research architect, project manager, software architect, and developer. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, a master's degree from Purdue University, and a bachelor's degree from Berufsakademie Mannheim.

His research focuses on improving the efficiency of security mechanisms in order to make them suitable for business software problems. At SAP Research he coordinated the EC funded research project SecureSCM which built confidentiality-preserving collaborative supply chain planning based on secure multi-party computation. He has more than ten years of experience in computer security and contributed to 60 scientific, peer-reviewed publications and 40 patent applications. He served on the program committees of international conferences and workshops.
