The main research activities at theInstitute for Applied Computer Science are flexible, automated systems in interaction with human and environment. In the focus of these activities are architectures, models and methods for design, test, operation and diagnosis of heterogeneous, distributed, and networked real-time- and automation systems. The application of such systems in production processes as well as in business processes shall lead to an optimization of performance, energy consumption, cost and quality.
